Task force to recommend ideas rather than propose ordinance

GREENVILLE - There will not be a residential inspection program for the City of Greenville after a task force wasn’t able to come to an agreement on the matter.

Several citizens spoke out against the idea during Tuesday’s council meeting. Rather than a proposed ordinance, the task force will present recommendations to the council on April 10.

They had originally been assigned to assist in the creation of a housing preservation program, at the recommendation of Assistant City Manager John Adel. Concerns had arisen about the number of homes in Greenville that had been torn down in Greenville, which was estimated at about 50 homes in the past seven years.
