Greenville – Plans for a tax reinvestment zone are moving forward. The Hunt County Commissioners Court intends Monday to consider waiving a 60-day notice requirement, which is part of the process toward the City of Greenville creating a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ). The TIRZ would pay for public infrastructure improvements, such as water and sewer lines and roads, within a specific area identified for development. The money would come from incremental property taxes, and possibly sales taxes, resulting from development constructed within the TIRZ.
