AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Agriculture today announced it has been granted approval by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to issue a Section 18 specific exemption allowing the use of spirotetramat (Movento) to control destructive thrips on onions in Texas.

The exemption expires March 31, 2012.

Movento applications must only be made by certified applicators, licensed applicators or persons under the direct supervision of licensed applicators. All directions, restrictions and precautions on the product label, as well as restrictions within the exemption notice, must be followed.

For more information about the Movento exemption, contact a local Texas AgriLife Extension Service office or call TDA at (512) 936-2535 or 800-TELL-TDA. A copy of the EPA approval notice can be found on the TDA website at TexasAgriculture.gov.
