Teen arrested for assault on Wal-Mart greeter

Commerce – Commerce Police are reporting the arrest of a 17-year-old resident after he allegedly assaulted a Wal-Mart greeter.

Officers responded to a report of a man identified as Michael Don McGinnis rollerblading in the store and attempted to detain him.

McGinnis fled towards the front of the store and as he approached the front exit door, intentionally used his left elbow and forearm to strike a female employee in the throat. He then struck two officers in the face, breaking one officer's eye glasses, and continued to resist by kicking.

The Wal-Mart greeter was treated and released after being transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center.

McGinnis was charged with evading arrest or detention, assault causing bodily Injury and two counts of assault on a public servant. His total bond was set at $27,000.
