Testimony begins Thursday in Woodruff trial

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Testimony gets underway today in a Hunt County capitol murder case. A six-man, six-woman jury, along with two male alternates was chosen Wednesday in the murder trial of Brandon Dale Woodruff. Woodruff has pleaded not guilty to killing his parents, Dennis and Norma Woodruff inside their home near Royse City in Oct., 2005.

Allegations the Hunt County District Attorney's Office was listening to phone calls Woodruff made from the jail to his defense team resulted in the DA's office removing itself from the case.

Special prosecutors from the Texas Attorney General's Office have been appointed. They will not be seeking the death penalty for Woodruff, should he be convicted of murder. If convicted, Woodruff would face an automatic sentence of life in prison.
