Commerce – Texas A&M University-Commerce faculty and staff are encouraged to join the University's Pride Alert Warning System, better known as PAWS. Participants will be notified via text message, voice call or email of any emergency situation. The PAWS system will also notify participants of any school closing information.

Crime Information Officer Jason Bone said PAWS was used last week to notify faculty and students of the small electrical fire in the basement of the MSC. He added the more people get involved in this system, the more aware and safer they will ultimately be. Faculty and students can sign up online through Leo, while staff is automatically signed up through HR Connect. Bone says it's especially important for staff members to keep their information updated so they can be informed in case of an emergency.
