Texas awards grant dollars to community colleges

– Across the state this fall, 54 community colleges and public technical colleges will receive a total of $2.5 million from the comptroller to use for student scholarships.

The JET (Jobs and Education for Texans) Career and Technical Scholarship Fund provides tuition grants to award scholarships to students enrolled in approved training programs for several high demand occupations.

Locally, Paris Junior College will claim just over $30,000, Mt. Peasant's Northeast Texas Community College is awarded $13,000, Tyler Junior College $64,000, $16,000 to Collin County Community College, and Grayson County Community College $37,000.
