– A big boost is coming to an obscure federal program which weatherizes homes to make them more energy-efficient.
It's distributing $4.7 billion in stimulus funds. In Texas, the state's share is increasing nearly 60 times, from $5.6 million to $327 million. $100 million alone have been distributed to larger cities.
Last week, the Greenville Electric Utility System (GEUS) announced it was seeking approval of a portion of the weatherization grant, looking to obtain $545,000. If approved, they'll be able to weatherize 125 homes over the next two years.
