Thousands without power after Monday storms

By Associated Press

North Texans spent a jittery night as savage thunderstorms packing hail and damaging winds tore through the region.

Winds gusting as high as 72 mph downed tree limbs and power lines in much of the region, mainly Dallas-Fort Worth.

The Greenville newspaper is reporting a delay in paper delivery today, after lightning knocked out power to its facility last night.

In Cleburne, gust of winds toppled a tractor-trailer rig in a parking lot. There were injuries, but none severe.

An Oncor spokeswoman reports early estimates were that 16,000 North Texas customers were without power, but the toll was expected to rise.
