Three arrested in counterfeit scheme

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Secret Service pays at visit to Northeast Texas, after the reported passing of counterfeit bills at a Commerce business.

Three subjects were detained last Friday after their alleged involvement in the use of a fake $50.00 bill.

During interviews with Commerce Police, it was determined that the three had been making the phony bills in a hotel room in Greenville. After obtaining a search warrant for the hotel room, officers with the Commerce and Greenville Police Departments, along with Secret Service agents, found chemicals, more counterfeit bills, and a scanner.

One adult male was charged with forgery and more charges are pending on all three adults. The three suspects could face federal charges.

It was determined the three have passed multiple counterfeit $50.00 and $20.00 bills from Rockwall to Commerce in the past few days.
