Three injured in Commerce traffic accident

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Three people are taken to area hospitals following a two-vehicle accident in Commerce Tuesday morning at the intersection of HW 50 and Culver.

According to Commerce Police Chief Kerry Crews, drivers of an SUV headed westbound on Culver and a truck going southbound on HW 50 both stated they had a green light. The truck struck the front right quarterpanel of the SUV with its front left corner, causing the back of both to strike each other, sending both vehicles in opposite directions.

The female driver of the truck was taken to Parkland Hospital via air ambulance. The occupants of the SUV, a female and a toddler, were checked by medical personnel on scene and decided to go to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital by private vehicle. No word on the extent of each of the subjects' injuries.
