Three involved in Wednesday car accident

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Three individuals were taken to Greenville hospital following a Wednesday car accident.

Two of the three involved a Greenville Police Department officer and the prisoner he was transporting. The accident occurred at the intersection of Wesley and Hillcrest Street shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Reports indicate an elderly woman was driving westbound on Hillcrest when she pulled in front of a police patrol car and another vehicle northbound on Wesley. The other vehicle was able to stop in time, but the officer was in the outside lane and was unable to stop, hitting the woman.

All three individuals were transported to the Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville, where Officer Chance Herron was reported to have been treated and released. The identities of the other two injured individuals and their conditions had not been released as of Wednesday evening.
