Throgmortons launch site regarding lawsuit

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Commerce Mayor Quay Throgmorton and his wife, Paige, have launched a website aimed at telling their side of the story concerning the City's lawsuit against them.

The site includes the Throgmorton's attorney's drafted response, audio from City Council meetings where the project was discussed in 2005 and 2006, and relevant documents pertaining to the project. All the audio and documents were obtained through open record requests made to the City of Commerce.

The suit alleges the two failed to repay the City more than $50,000 in improvements made five years ago to a development site dubbed the Rosemound Addition project. In March, 2006, the Mayor did repay over $34,000 to the City, but a recent investigation has found the remaining costs were never paid.

The Throgmorton's contend that since they made payment in 2006 they paid all sums due to the City. The City is claiming they are responsible for the entire project.

Documents and audio recordings obtained by Quay and Paige Throgmorton are available at www.commercetexas.com.
