Tigers handed first loss of season

By Kevin Jefferies

Paris, Texas – The Commerce Tigers got their first loss of the football season last Friday as they traveled to face the North Lamar Panthers. Dropped passes plagued the Tigers all night as the Panthers racked up over 200 yards on the ground, most of those in the first quarter, and took the game with a final score of 27-3.

North Lamar running back Broderick Thomas went over 1,100 yard on the season, but the Commerce defense clamped down on the dangerous back in the second half, allowing just 10 yards on 10 carries. The Commerce offense never was able to find the endzone as several drives stalled due to dropped passes by receivers. Commerce goes to 3-1 on the season, while North Lamar remains undefeated.

The Tigers are finally at home this Friday as the Wills Point Tigers come to town for a rematch of last year's playoff contest.
