Tigers lose, no playoffs

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The Commerce Tigers fell to the Quinlan Panthers Friday, 12-13. The game was very close, but tight defense from the Panthers and a very effective running game helped secure a playoff spot for Quinlan, and end a 16-year playoff run for the Commerce Tigers.

In other District 10-3A action, Royse City overcame the Rains Wildcats to claim the district title in an exciting game with several lead changes. Final score: 38-28 Royse City. Wills Point had a chance to make the post-season should Commerce defeat Quinlan, and the played like it, taking down Community 39-7.

Royse City will meet Prosper this week in first-round action; Emory-Rains faces Pilot Point; and Quinlan faces powerhouse Celina.
