Time running out to file for November special election

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – There could be a lack of special elections on the November ballot in Hunt County.

Elections administrator Mina Cook says while there has been interest expressed in an election to decide beer and/or wine sales in Quinlan, she had not received any petitions calling for such an election as of Monday.

Cook says the petitions need to be submitted by the middle of July in order for there to be time to certify them to call for a special election on or about August 24.

Quinlan, along with Wolfe City, Fate and Canton, all failed to secure enough votes last November to allow for the sale of beer and wine at off-premise locations.
