The private developing firm that hopes to build a toll road between Greenville and the President George Bush Turnpike in far northeast Dallas County is set to continue a series of small meetings with the public this week.
Dallas-based Texas Turnpike Corp. conducted two meetings on Sept. 25 in Rockwall. This week, the company plans to hold meetings in Greenville, Royse City and Rowlett. Next week, the series of meetings concludes with gatherings in Wylie and Royse City.
About 1,300 people attended a Sept. 22 meeting in Rockwall hosted by the North Central Texas Council of Governments Transportation Division. At that event, attendees were overwhelmingly opposed to the proposed toll road. The agency in conducting a study of what it calls the "Blacklands Corridor," which stretches from central Hunt County to northeastern Dallas County.
