Commerce – East and westbound traffic along Culver Street/Loop 178 in Commerce was being detoured at as of 8 a.m., as officials attempted to remove a stalled charter bus.
According to Superintendent Blake Cooper, 4th grade students at A.C. Williams Elementary School were on their way to Austin for an annual trip when the bus driver took a curve too sharp and bottomed out.
No students were injured. They were loaded onto another bus and are en route to their destination.
Eastbound traffic along Hwy 11 will need to stay on the highway instead of being allowed to take the Loop, while westbound traffic can get through to the highway by traveling through the old Tri-County Co-Op parking lot.
