Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Commerce

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – A Commerce man was arrested Friday afternoon, found in possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop.

Officers stopped the vehicle occupied by a female and two males for an obscured license plate. The female driver had an expired driver's license.

Upon doing a pat down for weapons a Commerce man was found to be in possession of a crack pipe. Consent to search the vehicle was then given which yielded approximately .5 grams of crack cocaine.

The man then told officers the piece of crack cocaine belonged to him and that he had smoked some earlier. The man was arrested and brought to the Commerce Police Department where he was booked in.

His name was not released pending arraignment.
