Sulphur Springs – Brian Chadwick Martin has pleaded guilty to seven counts of online solicitation of a minor. He's opted to have a jury determine his punishment.
Martin's trial began Tuesday in Sulphur Springs, where he also entered not guilty pleas to two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer.
According to Assistant District Attorney Peter Morgan, Martin found a child who had just turned 16 years of age on the Internet and began sending text messages to her, arranging a meeting at Beckham Church. But the girl told her father, a Sulphur Springs Police Officer, who notified additional authorities.
When Beckham arrived at the church he was approached by authorities, then reportedly tried to flee in his car before he was quickly apprehended, during which the assault reportedly occurred.
