Trial set in New Year's shooting case in Commerce

Greenville – Trial has been scheduled for a Garland man, alleged to have shot and wounded two people in Commerce on New Year's Day.

25-year-old Carlos Anthony Maar has pleaded not guilty. A tentative trial date has been set for September 27.

Maar received two indictments for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury.

According to Commerce Police, gunfire erupted at The Lodge on Live Oak Street on January 1, during a New Year's celebration.
