Trial set in West Tawakoni lawsuit

GREENVILLE - A motion seeking a summary judgment in a West Tawakoni court battle is denied and trial will proceed in May as planned.

More than two years ago, Mayor Pete Yoho, City Administrator Cloy Richards and West Tawakoni Maintenance Supervisor Gary Lamont Jenkins filed suit against Place 4 Council Member Carol Solomon, seeking her removal from office citing allegations of misconduct. Richards and Jenkins later filed an order of non-suit and were dropped from the case.

But Yoho continued with the suit, even filing amended petitions last year. In return, Solomon filed a counter-claim, alleging defamation and malicious persecution.

Yoho’s motion for a summary judgment was denied on March 22. Trial is scheduled to begin in late May.
