Three people died in an accident involving two tractor-trailers.

Three people died in an early-morning vehicle accident on Interstate 30 that has left the eastbound side of the highway closed. Officals expect that side of the highway in the area between FM 35 and FM 2642 to re-open around 3 p.m. Westbound travel on I-30 has been reduced to one lane.

The crash involved two 18-wheel tractor-trailers, which overturned during the incident shortly before 7 a.m., Royse City Fire Department spokesman Richard L. Bell said. A westbound 18-wheeler crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck another tractor-trailer head-on near the intersection of I-30 and FM 35. A third vehicle also crashed.

Traffic is being diverted onto FM 276 and State Highway 66, police said.

Details about the crash have not yet been released.
