A tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 30 in Sulphur Springs Thursday morning brought westbound traffic to a half and resulted in the closure of the westbound lanes, as well as the South Broadway Street overpass.
An 18-wheeler's trailer caught fire shortly after 7 a.m., according to multiple reports. The driver was able to park the trailer and escape. No injuries were reported.
Officials estimate that the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 will be re-opened at some point during Thursday afternoon. Texas Department of Transportation officials are inspecting the South Broadway Street overpass to determine whether the bridge is still safe to use. No timeline for the completion of the inspection or the re-opening of the overpass has been given.
