Two arrested for pot possession
Commerce – Officers arrest two Commerce residents with marijuana, drug paraphernalia and 4 small marijuana plants.
On Thursday, April 15th Commerce Police Officers responded to the 2400 block of Westgate on a reported aggravated assault with a deadly weapon call. The suspect of that assault is known to live in the adjoining apartment complex in the 200 block of Methodist Dr.
An officer was searching for that suspect on foot, when he approached an open door in that complex where two males were sitting on the couch of the living room. As the officer was asking the men if they had seen the suspect, he noticed two small marijuana plants in a plastic planter in plain view on the kitchen stove. Drug paraphernalia was also found in plain view in the living room.
As officers continued their investigations into the illegal narcotics, two additional plastic bags containing marijuana and two additional marijuana plants were found and seized. One bag contained approximately 46 grams of marijuana and the other contained 4 grams of marijuana.
Both men were arrested and taken to Commerce Police Department where they were booked in on charges of Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces. The men have been identified as 20 year old Derrick James Tucker and 24 year old William Robert Warrington. Both men were transported to the Hunt County Jail. Mr. Warrington was released on $1000 bond and Mr. Tucker is being held at the Hunt County Jail on $1500 bond.
