Two car chases, two arrests in Sulphur Springs

By Kevin Jefferies

Sulphur Springs – Two people were arrested after two different car chases in Sulphur Springs over the weekend.

The Sulphur Springs News Telegram reports 45 year old Dallas resident Dwight Wilson was arrested Sunday night for felony evading arrest and endangering a child his 13 year old son.

The man was reportedly involved in a disturbance on Como Street when he took a woman's car and fled the scene at a high rate of speed, pursued by police. Wilson weaved through traffic, ran a red light, nearly slammed into an 18 wheeler, and was finally stopped by police as he slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a state trooper.

In a separate incident, police also arrested 18 year old Meldrick Roland for evading arrest and marijuana possession after he led police on a short chase down Industrial Drive early Sunday morning.
