Two charged with multiple gun-related offenses

By Scott Harvey

– A six month investigation stemming from suspicion of illegal activity at Canton Trade Days has led to the arrest of two Northeast Texans.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, raided a home on Santa Fe Street in Emory and a storage facility in Quinlan this week and seized a total of 150 guns of various types.

KLTV-TV reports that 53-year-old Margaret Gunter and 66-year-old Paul Burchett were arrested in the raid. Each was charged with dealing firearms without a license, selling firearms to convicted felons and selling handguns to out-of-state residents.

ATF agents were initially contacted by vendors and customers at Canton's First Monday Trades Days on the suspicion that guns were being sold illegally.

An investigation into the crimes is continuing.
