Two injured in aggravated robbery

GREENVILLE - Greenville authorities say two people were hospitalized Friday evening after an apparent aggravated robbery along Wesley St.

Police responded to the scene at CVS Pharmacy at approximately 6:20 p.m. According to witnesses, 82-year old Rose Alex was exiting a vehicle in the parking lot to enter the store when a man grabbed her purse. As Alex struggled with the suspect, he struck her in the head and grabbed her wallet. The suspect then entered a waiting vehicle. As the vehicle left, it was dragging Alex. The victim’s son, Henry Don Mike, age 65, saw what was happening and intervened. As Mike attempted to retrieve the wallet, he was injured by the moving vehicle.

Both Alex and Mike were transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center. Alex sustained a laceration to her head, contusions and a broken hip. Mike sustained a broken arm.

A vehicle fitting the description of the suspect vehicle was located a short time later in the Dairy Queen parking lot. Officers investigated and located the suspect. Dustin Dewayne Drummond, age 26, of Lone Oak was arrested and placed in the Hunt County Jail.
