Two injured in hit and run

GREENVILLE  - A mother and her infant son were hospitalized after a reported hit and run Wednesday while they were walking in a Greenville street.

Claudia Garcia told police that she was walking north in the southbound lane of the 2600 block of King Street, carrying her son, when she was struck from behind by an unknown type vehicle.  

Garcia was able to make her way home where she was then transported to the emergency room at Hunt Regional Medical Center by her husband. She was later transferred to Parkland Hospital in Dallas with serious injuries. The infant son was treated for minor injuries and released.

An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call the Greenville Police Department at 903-457-2900.
