Two mistrials so far in drug case

Prosecutors may decide late this month whether or not they will attempt to try a local man for a third time on a meth possession charge, after two mistrials on the same case in the same number of months.

The Greenville man was indicted by the Hunt County grand jury on one count of manufactured delivery of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in an amount of between 4 and 200 grams. Mistrial was declared in the 354th district court on Tuesday, after a jury was hung on the question of guilt. A hung jury and a mistrial also occurred during a trial on the charge in February. The judge scheduled a review hearing for the case on April 23rd. According to reports from the Greenville police department, officers encountered the man during the early morning hours of February 23, 2010.
