Two severely injured after reported assault with vehcile

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – A weekend hit and run in Commerce turns into two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

24-year-old Abraham Gonzalez remained in custody at the Hunt County Jail Wednesday in lieu of $100,000 bond for allegedly hitting two Hispanic males with his vehicle. Both men suffered severe injuries following the collision, one of which was transported by air ambulance to Parkland Hospital. Their conditions at last report were unknown.

Reports indicate an altercation at a party led to the incident, after which one of the victims was run over and the other hit and carried about 30 feet before thrown to a sidewalk.

Gonzalez would later be arrested after his vehicle was spotted at Village Apartments. A hold for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been placed on him as well.
