Two suspects in Sunday pursuit identified

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Commerce Police have released the names of two suspects, arrested Sunday following a high speed chase through Commerce.

Stephanie Monique Hearn, of Commerce, and Kevin Tyrone "KT" Lewis, remained at the Hunt County Jail Tuesday, each charged with evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle. Bond for both Hearn and Lewis was set at $7,500.

Lewis is also said to have a warrant for his arrest for violation of parole, and a Delta County Warrant for possession or transport chemical with intent to manufacture a controlled substance. No bond was set on either charge.

On Sunday, Fannin County authorities received word that two suspects had reportedly kidnapped a Patriot Bank employee and her husband at gunpoint and attempted to rob the Ladonia branch. The robbery attempt was unsuccessful, and the gunmen released the two victims and fled the area. None of the victims sustained any injuries.

A Commerce Police officer later observed a vehicle matching the description and attempted a traffic stop, which led to a chase through the City. During the pursuit, two black male suspects bailed out of the vehicle at two different locations. One of the suspects, Lewis, was later captured under a storage shed. The driver, Hearn, was also caught.

One suspect in the case remains at large. The Commerce Police Department, Fannin County Sheriff's Department and the Texas Rangers are continuing to investigate the offense.
