Two Teens Indicted for Animal Cruelty

2 teenagers from Quinlan have been indicted on animal cruelty charges for allegedly beating a pot belly pig to death over the summer.

Jarred Lynn Ferrell and Larry Glen Nichols were also charged Friday for allegedly stealing copper from multiple air conditioners. The charges were among 58 indictments issued Friday by the Hunt County Grand Jury. Ferrell and Nichols each received one indictment for cruelty to livestock animals and three indictments for theft of copper of the value of less than $20,000.

The pair was arrested August 28. According to a statement from the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, Hunt County Precinct 4 Constable Kent Layton notified investigators that there had been four pot-bellied pigs killed in the area of the 9900 block of County Road 3616.

Ferrell and Nichols were also alleged to have stolen copper tubing, coils and parts belonging to three air conditioners on or about August 26.
