TxDot to hold public meeting tonight

By Scott Harvey

Commerce, Sulphur Springs – The Texas Department of Transportation is inviting the public to a meeting Wednesday regarding an upcoming project along State Highway 11 between Commerce and Sulphur Springs.

Plans for two upcoming projects will be addressed. One project will rebuild the intersection at SH 11 and Loop 178 in Commerce as well as adding travel lanes and shoulders from that intersection east to the South Sulphur River. The second project will involve the reconstruction of four miles of SH 11 from just east of FM 2653 in Ridgeway and extending east toward Sulphur Springs. This project will add 10 ft. wide paved shoulders and improve the horizontal and vertical design features of the roadway.

Officials with TxDot will be in attendance to address questions and concerns regarding safety along the highway. The informal meeting is to take place Wednesday evening at 5:30 at the Mt. Zion Church, located on Highway 11, five miles east of Commerce.
