Tyler – There could be a race for house speaker after all; and the challenger is from East Texas.
Tyler republican representative Leo Berman is expected to file the paperwork as early as Tuesday to run for speaker against Joe Straus come the start of the next legislative session in January.
Berman has been an outspoken critic of Straus's leadership.
Reached at his home in Tyler Berman would only say that he is a conservative running for a seventh term and is seriously considering a run for speaker.
