UIL high school district realignments announced

Commerce –

District Realignment in Texas has been officially released by the University Interscholastic League and KETR takes a quick look at how some of the area schools are impacted.

Some big changes have hit some local schools, including Commerce, Greenville and both Paris districts. Also, the much-anticipated reclassification of Royse City is in full effect, and now they sit in what may be one of the toughest districts in the state.

Starting in 3A and Commerce ISD-The Tigers now sit in District 10-3A with two teams that were 4A the past two years, and one team that was 2A. The full district includes-

District 10-3A:
Paris North Lamar
Van Alstyne

District 10-4A is also a big story, with Royse City moving up a classification and sharing the district with Greenville. But Rockwall and two Carrollton teams have moved DOWN a classification from 5A, creating an extremely tough district.

District 10-4A:
Royse City
Dallas Highland Park
Richardson Pearce
Carrollton Smith
Carrollton Turner

Few other major surprises were in store for most area schools. For a complete list of district realignments and reclassifications visit the U.I.L. website at www.uil.utexas.org.
