University family invited to ceremonies for deceased student

COMMERCE - A series of memorial services are planned for the Texas A&M University-Commerce student who died Saturday in a two vehicle accident.

The Indian Student Association is inviting you to any of three services, scheduled Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

According to State Troopers, 27-year-old Suman Kukunoor was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of Interstate 30 when he collided with another vehicle.

Three other students riding in the vehicle were all injured, one critically. As of Sunday, Swathi Thota was listed in critical condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas and Tejawsi Bhavanan was in good condition at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville. Their conditions as of Thursday afternoon were unclear. But according to Brenda Brand, assistant director of International Student Services, Jyothi Challabotla has been released from Medical Center of Plano.

Services for Kukunoor will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the Traditions Room of the Sam Rayburn Student Center. Friday’s ceremony takes place at 2:30 p.m. from Commerce Mosque, 1703 Live Oak Street. On Sunday, respects can be paid during a service at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 918 Bishop Street, beginning at 3 p.m.
