By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Texas A&M University-Commerce has released its annual security and fire safety reports from 2009.

The security report finds a total of 38 offenses in 2009, up from 16 the previous year. The biggest jump came in burglaries, both at university facilities and in residence halls.

Of the 38 offenses, two were aggravated assault and one was sexual assault. There were four total fire offenses reported in 2009, of which resulted in no injuries and $400 in damage.

A small fire inside Whitley Hall was determined the cause of a prank, while another small incident inside Prairie Crossing apartments was determined arson.
