Commerce – The City of Commerce continues to make headway in its search for a new Fire Chief. A total of 12 applications were received, with five of those applicants scheduled for interviews beginning Thursday, May 29 and continuing through Wednesday, June 4.

Interim City Manager Marc Clayton says generally two or three individuals will emerge as finalists. Those finalists will then be brought back in and exposed to about a 12 hour shift at the fire station. According to Clayton, this will create an even better view of each candidate and let fire officials voice their impressions. Clayton, along with Commerce Police Chief Kerry Crews and Community Development Director Steve Wilson will make up the interview committee. All five applicants are made up of individuals from both in and out of state.
