Investigations continue in the murders of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia.
In a press conference held on Sunday, Kaufman County Sheriff David Byrnes declined to comment on any security measures taken to keep other DA office employees safe.
Another concern was raised about whether or not the Sheriff's department would be able to fulfill it's common duties as well as the investigation.
"It’s unnerving to the law enforcement community. It’s unnerving to the community at large, and that’s why we are striving to assure the community that we are still providing public safety and [the department] be able to do that. We are meeting all of our obligations plus the investigative responsibility."

Original Story
Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife have been found shot in their Forney home, WFAA-TV reports.
The front door of the 3,000 square foot home was kicked in, and a .223 caliber assault rifle was used with approximately 14 rounds being fired, the station said.
Two months ago, Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was fatally shot in the parking lot outside the county courthouse.
It is not clear whether or not the two incidents are related, but according to the Dallas Morning News, investigators are treating the situation as if they are. They also report that all other Kaufman County District Attorney's Office employees have been accounted for, and are safe.
With these murders, the Kaufman County Crime Stoppers are asking for donations. They tell the Kaufman Herald that their current reward fund for information leading to an arrest in Mark Hasse's death is $100,000, and they are now asking for donations to start a reward fund for the McLelland murder as well.
If you would like to donate, please call 469-595-5102.
Anyone with information on the murder of the McLellands, Mark Hasse, or any other felony crime can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-877-TIPSKCC (847-7522), and all identities will be kept confidential.
