Update: Semi fire slows motorists' evening commute

HUNT COUNTY - Eastbound traffic was being detoured along Interstate 30 Monday afternoon near the Rockwall/Hunt County line after a semi caught fire.

A motorist tells KETR they believe the 18 wheeler was carrying wood.

The accident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. Monday. The Department of Public Safety dispatch center in Garland confirmed the site was nearly clear at 8 p.m. and indicated no injuries had been reported. It was unclear how the fire started.

Drivers traveling eastbound were initially directed to exit early, cross under the bridge and then continue east along the westbound service road. DPS says motorists can now access the eastbound service road. CBS Dallas Traffic was also informing motorists to exit at CR 2648 or before to avoid major delays.
