Update: Storms bring power outages, flight cancellations

The American Red Cross has put a preliminary estimate of damaged homes in the DFW area at more than 600 after an estimated 12 tornadoes swept through the region Tuesday. 

Damage locally was reported in Royse City, and along the Hunt/Rockwall County line in the Munson Community and Union Valley, while Crosby Elementary School in Forney is closed today due to sustained damage.

There have been no fatalities reported.

The storms forced area hospitals, school districts and Texas A&M University-Commerce to lockdown operations. 

American Airlines have cancelled 424 flights in and out of DFW Airport today. 800 flights were cancelled Tuesday. At Dallas Love Field, Southwest Airlines had to cancel 46 flights Tuesday, but did not have any cancellations for Wednesday.

Oncor Wednesday morning reported nearly 14,000 homes andbusinesses without electricity. Meteorologists will be surveying the damage today throughout the region. Send you storm photos from Tuesday to scott@ketr.org.
