Van Crushed by Train in Greenville

Images from Hunt County Scanner show the shattered front windshield and mangled front-end of an apparent construction van after colliding with a train Sunday afternoon in Greenville.

The male driver was transported by air to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

The Scanner notes:

“The driver was waving to everyone as he was being loaded into the helicopter.”

The accident occurred before 2 p.m. where the railroad intersects FM 118 near the Timberglenn neighborhood in the northeast side of town.

According to a release by Greenville Public Information Office Lori Philyaw, witnesses said “The railroad crossing lights were flashing and barricades were down when a white van failed to stop and hit the moving train.”

Information as to the extent of the victim’s injuries was not given.
