PARIS - Strong military support by families, school children and teachers were on display at Saturday’s USA Show in Paris.
The event also served as a showcase for the Red River Valley Veteran Memorial, currently under construction, and was one of several activities held locally both Friday and Saturday to honor military servicemen and women.
Student representatives from 27 area schools presented money collected in the Pennies for Patriots program to honor Texas and Oklahoma patriot heroes. Each school was tasked with collecting 30,000 pennies to purchase an engraved granite paver which will serve as the walkway at the memorial site.
A Bob Hope impersonator, the Choctaw Dancers and the Victory Belles vocal trio were among the entertainers.
