Vigil for shooting victim postponed

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A candlelight vigil planned in memory of a Dallas man, shot and killed in Greenville last month, has been postponed.

The cold and rainy weather Saturday forced the cancellation of the ceremony in honor of Edward Markeist Wheaton.

It had been planned for that afternoon in the 4300 block of Wesley, the location where Wheaton died Feb. 20 at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash.

A representative for the NAACP State Conference said the vigil is expected to be rescheduled, but no date had been announced as of Saturday afternoon.
