Voters reject Celeste ISD tax increase

Celeste – Voters in the Celeste Independent School District defeated a measure to raise the ad valorem tax rates by 13 cents Tuesday.

59 percent of voters said "no" to the measure, which would have moved the tax rate to $1.55 per $100 valuation.

Other school related elections in Hunt County dealt with the appointment of new Board of Trustee members.

Four Bland ISD Trustees were elected for full terms with five individuals running. The lead vote-getter was Kenny Hightower. Also elected were Steve Welborn Tony Johnson, and Mike Cook.

Voters also selected four Boles ISD Trustees to full terms, from six candidates. Linda Pitts was top vote-getter. Also elected was Kristi Baggett, David Milner, and Eric Taylor.
