Voting records broke in Hunt County

By Brad Kellar

Hunt County – Tuesday's election broke Hunt County voting records. A total of 29,818 total votes were cast in the count for Tuesday's election, representing about a 58 percent turnout of the county's almost 51,000 registered voters. Both statistics bested the previous local benchmarks for voter participation set in the 2004 General Election. Nearly 65 percent of people in Hunt County voted straight-ticket republican, while 34 percent voted straight-ticket democrat.
