Wal-Mart evacuated, gunman arrested

Hollis Blaine Sartin
Hopkins County Sheriff's Department

Hollis Blaine Sartin, 40, of Hopkins County has been arrested Saturday morning after he carried a BB gun in the Wal-Mart in Sulphur Springs.

He forced the store to be evacuated Friday night after he entered the store wearing a hoodie and putting a gun into his pocket following the theft of a truck from a Hope, Arkansas auto dealer. The local Special Response Team searched the store for the man. Store surveillance video showed the suspect exiting the store and escaping down State Highway 11.

According to reports Sulphur Springs Police say Sartin was caught hitch hiking in Hopkins County. He is being charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. Charges are still pending for carrying the BB gun inside the store.

The store has since re-opened. This is not Sartin’s first offense. According to the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office, he has been arrested multiple times in the past 23 years on charges including driving while intoxicated, sexual assault on a child, burglary of a habitation, and theft, reported KLTV.
