Walker wins runoff election in Sulphur Springs

By Scott Harvey

Sulphur Springs – Citizens Saturday gave the nod to incumbent for Place 3 Clay Walker by a small margin over challenger Bradley Edge.

Walker won by grabbing only 54 percent of the 631 votes cast. Walker obtained 340 votes, to Edge's 291 (46 percent).

The runoff was needed as neither candidate obtained enough votes during the May 9 election, when there were five total candidates on the ballot.

The results are scheduled to be made final during a Tuesday canvassing by the Sulphur Springs City Council.
