Want children to sleep better? Be sure salmon and tuna are in their diet

Wellness wheel
McKinley Health Center, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Our wellness commentator, Velvete Womack, proprietor of Fire and Ice Spa in Commerce, says recent research shows that low DHA blood levels in children contribute to poor sleep habits, as well as resulting behavioral problems.  Cold-water fish such as salmon and tuna and natural supplements with Omega 3 acids are helpful in raising DHA levels.  The same dietary advice is good for adults, Velvete says.
